Fruit

On my creamy silk pillow
pale as moonlight
I will bring to you a basket
heaped with apricots
soft peaches
crescents of honeydew
ripe raspberries
red as bites
and pink fleshed papaya
spilling glistening seeds
onto a bed of fresh leaves

Through all those coffin years
your bones bent and crying,
in the land of fat
the bovine land
the sweat pant land
you began
to eye the gleaming moon
pulling it down by the horns
to gnaw at its poxy craters

I fear my gift
if even a sole mouthful
prove too rich
for your malnourished body
juices running to your elbows...
you will fall dead
naked as at birth
stained like bruises by crushed fruit
smiling, your life completed.
